New Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition launched from £83,510

The Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition features more standard equipment and - you guessed it - platinum-coloured trim

8 Nov 2021

The Porsche Panamera has somewhat lived in the shadow of the Taycan ever since the EV was launched. However, the brand is keen to claw back a few popularity points for its older saloon with this new special-edition variant, called the Platinum Edition.

Buyers can also have the special-edition Panamera as an estate, and one of the powertrains on offer is the E-Hybrid PHEV set-up. Prices start from £83,510 for the cheapest V6 variant.

Upgrades over the standard Panamera include new 21-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, a panoramic glass sunroof, black exhaust tips and platinum-coloured trim for the bumpers and badges. It also has privacy glass and a unique set of tail lights.

Technology includes adaptive air suspension, auto-dimming door mirrors, parking assist with a reversing camera and a Bose surround sound system. Hybrid models also get an on-board 7.2kW charger.

Inside, there are a few more extras, such as a new sports steering wheel, heated rear seats and electrically adjustable front seats with a memory function. The trims on the dashboard and door cards have also been swapped for brushed-aluminium replacements.

The cheapest Panamera 4 Platinum Edition is powered by a 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine, which develops 325bhp and 450Nm of torque. Power goes to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and Porsche says it can get from 0–62mph in 5.3 seconds.

The E-Hybrid model features the same 2.9-litre V6, although it's supported by an electric motor and a 17.9kWh battery pack, which boosts power and torque to 456bhp and 700Nm respectively. The PHEV powertrain lowers the car's 0–62mph time to 4.4 seconds.

Porsche says the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid can cover up to 35 miles on electric power alone, at up to 85mph. The electrical assistance also benefits the car's fuel economy, with a claimed best-case scenario figure of 142.2mpg.
